Englewood Music Festival

March 5th 4:30 – 5:30pm (main stage)

Punta Gorda Wine & Jazz Festival

Max McCann, Mindi Abair and Peter White

This month’s feature will cover some of the finest musicians to ever grace a stage. In previous years, John and The Punta Gorda Chamber staff have brough such jazz legends as Spyro Gyro, Ramsey Lewis, and The Rippingtons featuring Russ Freeman. Last year, they added Mindi Abair to the list of international talent. Accompanying Mindi Abair was Max McCann & The Displacements, who will be kicking off the festival again this year…
Max has a cool, smooth style, which translates from his personality into his music…He is a very versatle musician who can lay down some mean Stevie Ray Vaughn, or slip into some smooth jazz. “I like instrumentals…I like the fact that a song doesn’t have to be about anything, we do lots of jamming, just letting a song do it’s thing. It’s never going to be the same twice”.
He has released 2 CD’s and toured throughout the Eastern US and Europe. “It was Amsterdam and Frankfurt, Germany that put me on the map,” he said. “I would be playing huge festivals every summer for thousands of people. Back in America, I started doing openings for Jerry Garcia’s Band, E.L.O., War, and Big Mountain”. Back in 2007, Max played for The Parrot during our Rocktoberfest Parrot Style with Brian Howe of Bad Company. He will also be featured on the mainstage during the Englewood Music Festival on March 6th in Englewood, FL.
“I am currently working on a few different recordings and really leaning towards the “Smooth Jazz,” he added, “making it Funky.”
Max will take the stage at 1pm at the PG Wine & Jazz Festival, then the world famous guitarist Peter White will join the lovely and talented Mindi Abair on-stage.
